Kunming runs on robots. (www.gokunming.com)

Oh it has been a long time. Classes are nearing the end of the term and I haven’t written a single word in this. Maybe this is due to the fact that Kunming has become even better than before. I think it is.

On September 1st the floodgates opened and the streets were full of students. Every university and school seemed to open on the same day and summer vacation ended. Kunming also recieved a new wave of foreign expats looking to learn mandarin and fill up the city’s bars. I think it’s odd how much of a hot spot Kunming can be with foreigners. Everyone seems to have done a stint at the big cities of Beijing or Shanghai and decided that beautiful not-too-hot-not-too-cold Kunming is the place they belong. For me this influx of foreigners has been awesome. I have met people from all over the world and life is busier than ever in the Spring city.

The weather has been getting a little chilly and it rains pretty often. I wouldn’t mind this except that my apartment, like amost everyone in Kunming, doesn’t have a water heater. Our water is heated by the sun and if the sun doesn’t show for a few days the water turns cold and I get dirty. I’m learning though and when I have a chance at a hot shower I take it.

My next vacation is coming up at the end of this month. I will be hitting LiJiang and then flying to Indonesia for some relaxing beach time (hopefully).
Also, the picture at the top of this was taken from the good site gokunming.com. Check out the site if you lie or plan on living in Kunming. They also recently did a post on Kunming blogs.
